The brothers of Domaine des Frères were born near Chinon, but not to a family of vignerons — rather, their parents owned a garage and encouraged their sons to seek stable, comfortable jobs in an office somewhere. The dutiful Bruneau boys followed suit, but quickly found that office life was...not for them.
After apprenticeships with big names (Yvon Métras, Patrick Corbineau, and Bernard Baudry, just to name a few), they were able to purchase a remarkable plot of vines in their hometown where they grow Cabernet Franc and a bit of Chenin Blanc.
Spread out over 11 hectares, there are over 6 different and distinct soil types. The vines range in age between 30 and 60 years of age, which the brothers began converting to organic, sustainable farming almost immediately after buying the land. They do everything they can to preserve the sanctity of their land, from driving 4-wheelers around the estate (a smaller footprint than a car) to employing solely indigenous yeast in the cellar and eschewing sulfur.
